White nights in Saint Petersburg

White nights in St PEtersburg - raising Palace bridge
St Petersburg is famous for its “white nights” in May, June and July when the sun almost never goes down. During that period, many bridges across the Neva River are raised at night to let the ships pass by, a spectacle which many strolling romantics do not want to miss.
