St Petersburg is famous for its “white nights” in May, June and July when the sun almost never goes down. During that period, many bridges across the Neva River are raised at night to let the ships pass by, a spectacle which many strolling romantics do not want to miss.
According to the calendar summer begins on June, 12 and ends on August, 22.The most exciting time of St. Petersburg's summer is allegorically called White Nights.White Nights last for about a month from the middle of June till the middle of July. During this period streets are not artificially lit at nights, because it does not getdark at all!
